During the 2020 Travvy Awards, Xcaret has once again been recognized as the best theme park in the world. It is the fourth year in a row that this exotic Mexican destination has its title. And it doesn’t surprise us.
It is located in the state of Quintana Roo, near the paradisiacal beaches of Cancun and Riviera Maya. The main concept that proclaims and defends is the peaceful coexistence with nature. The attractions that attract the most attention are the butterfly garden; the island of jaguars and shows about the culture of Mexico.
Xcaret, awarded and proud
Last Wednesday, these awards were given by the Academy of Travel Industry in Gotham Hall, New York. They recognize the main tourist destinations, yes, but also the best travel agents and technology providers, and the best attractions in the world.
In the words of those responsible for the park :
“We are very honored to receive this recognition for the fourth consecutive year. From our birth, we have sought to provide memorable experiences for all our visitors in a natural environment exalting the culture of Mexico.”
With more than 2 million visitors a year, the park also has other complexes such as Xel-Ha, Xplor or Xoximilco.
His name is striking. Xcaret means a small cove because the sea enters the land. Thanks to its privileged location, this was an attractive point for the Mayans who lived in the area. They built a port thanks to which they turned this land into a commercial center.
It was founded in the year 90 and, since then, thanks to its exquisite natural environment it has been able to develop several programs related to the conservation and reproduction of fauna and flora typical of southeastern Mexico. For example sea turtles, manatee or deer.
One of its most successful facilities is the butterfly garden, the first in the country. Also, the Coral Reef Aquarium, where you can enjoy reef structures in their own habitat. Being a theme park, Xcaret’s goal is to show the world the most representative Mexican natural and cultural aspects.
You can also perform several water activities in its underground rivers, cenotes, beaches, and lagoon. Here we can enjoy the traditions of the Mayan people and the most characteristic of Mexican folklore.
As indicated by the Xcaret Group:
“This park celebrates the present and the rich history of Mexico’s past, a country renowned for its folkloric traditions and culture.”
