Many think that happiness lies in their wedding day or in having a child. There is no doubt that these are two of the most important moments of your life, but where is the secret of happiness really? Thanks to a study conducted by Booking, we can say that there is something that makes us even happier: travel.

It doesn’t matter where we stay. In a bed and breakfast, five star resort, an exotic destination or a great backpacker adventure. The experience we live both before and during the trip is, for many, infinitely better than any other material thing.

In the survey conducted by the accommodation comparator, no less than 17 thousand individuals from 17 countries around the world participated.

Many are the people who enjoy planning and living a tripIn fact, so much so that all this has become something much more momentous to achieve happiness. It becomes one of the most vital moments for the existence of the human being.

49% of respondents have lived on a trip with more emotion than their wedding day. For 51%, it has been better than a date with your partner. Half prefer to find a new job. And there is still more. For 45%, it is better than committing and 29% consider traveling better than having a child.

The key to everything: planning

Traveling gives happiness that lasts longer in time than any other material thing can bring us. This is supported by 70% of respondents. More than half prefer a trip to the purchase of jewelry or technological things. 50% prioritize it over home renovations.

The illusion is so much that it expands over time. Start at the time of planning and booking. Afterward, the role is taken by the trip itself. Seven out of ten respondents get excited looking for possible destinations. More than half feel full of happiness when they reserve (and confirm) everything.

According to Shawn Achor, an expert in happiness studies, ensures that there is a direct relationship between enjoying the reservation time and the trip itself. If this trip is planned correctly, it will increase the desire to return to the daily routine, increasing energy and happiness.

Months in advance

One in three respondents says they organize a trip months in advance. 5%, says do it a year before. It is at this moment when the journey begins. One in four states that he thinks at least once a day on these vacations to rejoice. How not to consider it the secret of happiness?

Eight out of ten gloat looking for maps, photos, accommodations, etc. and also reading reviews and advice from others who have already traveled there.

But, although this is very pleasant, the good really come during the trip. The best is that first moment when leaving the office to undertake the deserved vacation. Most enjoy as a child when they see the accommodation for the first time when it is installed, and it becomes their home for a few days.
