Dallas, Texas – Dallas Police dispatched a patrol and two officers to the site of a fatal crash in Oak Cliff. The uniformed men planted themselves in the street with a scan and began hunting down drivers who exceeded the 35 mph speed limit.
This plan came 24 hours after the road accident that took the life of 74-year-old Teúdolo Fernández.
Media captured how the officers carried out two traffic violations in a very short period of time.
Relatives of Mr. Fernández marked the place where his body was left after a tire hit him on Tuesday afternoon.
“We put this little angel to remind my father of where they took his life,” said Aracely Fernández, daughter of the deceased.
Authorities released the identity of a 46-year-old Hispanic who is behind bars in this case.
German Soto is being charged with speeding causing the crash, attempting to escape the scene, and providing false information when stopped.
“I am glad that they did catch him and I hope he pays for everything, everything he did,” added the victim’s figure.
A granddaughter of the victim started an online petition to create a driveway for parked cars for the purpose of slowing down. The young woman also created a GOFUNDME account to help them pay for the funeral expenses and the goal is to raise $ 20,000.
The children and grandson of Mr. Fernández will be holding a vigil in his honor to raise awareness of the problem that took his life. It will be until next Tuesday when his funeral will take place and his loved ones will say their last goodbye.
