DESOTO, Texas – Two young children died on Tuesday in an early morning house fire after being trapped in a second-floor bedroom.
The incident occurred around 4.30am on 100 Block of Wildwood Ct. According to the authorities, two children, aged 1 and 2, died at the scene.
Police also reported that four adults and four children had left the house safely and informed paramedics that there were two other children in the house on the second floor.
DeSoto firefighters used a ladder to guide the children out of the front of the house. There was a ladder on the ground in front of the house where the family tried to use their own, but it was not high enough to reach the part of the house upstairs where the children were sleeping.
Police said that the children were taken to the hospital, where they later died. The children have not yet been publicly identified.
Authorities are asking the community to avoid this area when conducting investigations.
