Denton, TX – The civic center will open as a 24-hour emergency heating station located at 321 block of E. Mckinney St. It’s starting from Sunday at noon for people who need shelter from winter weather conditions.
The city said the Civic Center would be available to anyone who needed a place to stay, including chained drivers, people who lost essential services in their homes and people who were homeless.
The Civic Center will have toilets, chairs, water, snacks and basic sanitation, according to Denton City Hall. Face masks will be mandatory.
The city will offer several other places to warm up during the day. The MLK Jr. and North Lakes recreational centers will be open at 8 am and closing at 5 pm. On Sundays and operate from 8am to 7pm Monday.
