After a failed first season in 2001, the Xince of Vince McMahon must undergo a new failure but this time is independent of them. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the league has revealed that its season has been canceled.
This decision is not unique to XFL and thus joins a long list of canceled and suspended seasons and sporting events. In this (very) long list, we can notably find the NHL, NBA, MLS, Serie A, Eredivisie, Liga NOS, Liga BBVA or all the French FFF football championships and potentially all European competitions of UEFA and FIFA.
The world of wrestling is also strongly impacted by this health crisis, like the ROH which had to cancel its next shows including its anniversary show, but also the OTT. The flagship federation of Ireland had no choice but to cancel its biggest show of the year, ScrapperMania.
wXw has also announced that it will cancel its show “wXw 16 Carat Revenge” which is due to take place next April during the Wrestlemania weekend. DEFY Wrestling and PWG also announce the postponement of their respective next shows from March 29.
French wrestling is also affected by these measures, in particular the cancellation of the BreizhtleMania show by Ouest Catch, which was to take place this Saturday.
