Rob Gronkowski, “wrestling fan”
Michael Cole is in the ring and announces the arrival of Rob Gronkowski, but it is Mojo Rawley who first enters to introduce his friend. Gronkowski enters his theme song, a version cheap from Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO. He says he’s a wrestling fan and has followed Rawley from FCW – but what kind of wrestling fan would do that? Rawley and Gronkowski start having fun when Baron Corbin enters, we were never happy to see him interrupt something.
Corbin asks Gronkowski to kneel before his king, but the former footballer explains that it is not his thing too much. Elias, in turn, enters and announces that he has a chance for Corbin, who agrees to hear him on condition that he then leaves him alone. But obviously the song goes wrong, and Corbin asks him to stop.
Gronkowski ends up bringing down Corbin with Rawley’s help, and as he is the guest host of WrestleMania, he announces a match between Elias and Baron Corbin at the event. Seriously, what kind of wrestling fan would do that?
Daniel Bryan wants the Intercontinental title
Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak beat Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro by fallen with a Bryan sunset flip on Cesaro, blocked by Gulak.
Bryan and Gulak celebrate their victory behind the scenes when Sami Zayn and his band approach them, angry at their defeat. Daniel Bryan challenges Sami Zayn for a match at WrestleMania for the title of Intercontinental Champion. Sami Zayn agrees, but only if Gulak defeats Shinsuke Nakamura next week.
A six-pack for Bayley at WrestleMania
After being absent last week, Paige is finally here … by Skype from Los Angeles as announced by Michael Cole. Bayley and Sasha Banks interrupt the streak, making fun of the fact that she is still missing. Bayley goes on to say that she has beaten everyone and wonders if Paige would not want a championship match too, except that Bayley knows that Paige cannot have a match, she can no longer fight.
Paige admits, her career is over and she can’t challenge Bayley, but after speaking with FOX, she explains that she is able to announce who will be Bayley’s opponent at WrestleMania. Or rather THE adversaries. If you were expecting Nia Jax, this is a failure.
Paige announces that Bayley’s opponents will be six: Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke, Tamina, Naomi… and Sasha Banks. And all these beautiful people will collapse in a Six-Pack Elimination Match. Not particularly interesting and they are on track to spoil a new Bayley poster against Sasha Banks under the current conditions.
The furniture match for this episode of SmackDown is the previous confrontation between Bray Wyatt and John Cena, at WrestleMania XXX in 2014, to recall what would have thrown Wyatt in the thirty-sixth underwear – and to make Brodie Lee appear at the AEW and the WWE the same week.
In an interview, Alexa Bliss explains that she has a lot of time on her schedule right now (like everyone else, huh) so she challenges Asuka who intervened in her match last week to a clash in the next episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
Otis is to worship
The Miz and John Morrison are in the ring for a new Dirt Sheet. They realized one thing: they have no game at WrestleMania. This is followed by a small montage where they are in the audience imitating the New Day and the Usos and the Heavy Machinery, which they then face.
The Miz and John Morrison defeated Heavy Machinery by disqualification. Otis farted a cable. The blame on Dolph Ziggler, who entered during the match and installed comments, distracted Otis with photos of him and Mandy Rose. Ziggler then attempted to escape by the public when Otis chased him but was caught.
Miz and Morrison attack Otis, but both are beaten up one against the commentator’s table the other against the ring post, before being kicked, causing disqualification.
Goldberg vs Reigns, it’s signed
Goldberg and Roman Reigns sign the final match for the title of Universal Champion at WrestleMania 36 in the final streak of this show. They both swing the chairs out of the ring. No need.
The Universal champion says he is delighted that Roman Reigns has offered to be his challenger at WrestleMania, even if he thought he did not have what it takes in the pants to dare. Michael Cole brings out an old tweet from Roman Reigns, who sublimely aimed at Goldberg and his habit of knocking on doors before each of his games. Goldberg is on his territory and he didn’t deserve it, he said.
Goldberg will tell him that he has knocked down iron doors for years and that Roman Reigns is his next victim. There was a joke to be made that it probably damaged his brain there. But Roman Reigns preferred to say, bitch.
The table flies and the two wrestlers face each other to end this very special episode.
