WWE Interested in Selling Part of Its Streaming Content to Amazon

During the last week, during a conference call to discuss the company’s financial results, WWE said it was ready to sell its pay-per-views to other streaming services such as Amazon and many others. So, many voices have started to speculate that the monthly shows disappear from the WWE Network. But it is not the only noise from the corridor that was heard …

Indeed, as CNBC reports, some analysts have even said that the giant Amazon could buy WWE in its entirety, in the more or less near future. Multinationals like the famous online shopping site might be interested in all the video content from a firm like WWE. The information was therefore taken up by several American media…

According to Dave Meltzerthis possibility of seeing Amazon take over WWE is totally unfounded. This also applies to the content of the WWE Network. Indeed, such a buyout would be very surprising and the transaction would amount above all to several billion dollars.

However, we have to admit that WWE is not at its best. Since the beginning of the year, the company has lost around 40% of its market value. These poor results are explained by the recent departure of the two co-chairs Michelle Wilson and George Barrios but also by the number of subscribers to the Network. The streaming service had 1,389 million subscribers at the end of 2019, 9% less than the previous year.
