The confrontation was the last to last of the pay-per-see day. Strowman looked imposing before his three opponents separately. However, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro managed to gain a huge advantage while Sami Zayn served as bait for “The Monster Among Men.”
In the final moments of the contest, the three men applied a combination of double suplex and helliuva kick so that Sami ironed Strowman and obtained the victory via pinfall.
In this way, Sami Zayn becomes the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. Strowman ends his first reign with the title, which began 35 days ago during the special episode Super SmackDown. “The Monster Among Men” managed to defeat Shinsuke Nakamura in the blue show held on January 31 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is clear that Sami Zayn today lifts his first championship since his arrival at the main roster in 2016.
A few weeks ago, WWE held a contract signature between Braun Strowman and Shinsuke Nakamura on SmackDown, in order to make an official match for the Intercontinental Championship official at the company’s next event.
Before signing the contract, Strowman clarified that he could face both Nakamura and his companions Cesaro and Sami Zayn to defend the gold. The latter did not miss the opportunity to commit “The Monster Among Men” and the three men also signed to make a handicap match official for the title.
