Mike Johnson, a journalist for PW Insider, reported this afternoon that Edge has signed a new contract with WWE, although no details of the agreement have been given. In addition, there is speculation that he may return to the action for the Road to WrestleMania 36, even to appear in the Royal Rumble as one of the participants in the Men’s Royal Battle.
“We have heard that Edge signed a new agreement with WWE, a very good economic agreement,” Mike Johnson wrote. ” My instinct is that we will see Edge at the Royal Rumble as a surprise (as it seems to be the perfect place to make a big splash with a comeback for the Wrestlemania season) and possibly even see him do some fighting at important events.”
Edge traveled to Pittsburgh in October to conduct “business with WWE.” Pittsburgh is the city where the offices of Dr. Joseph Maroon, the head of the WWE medical team, are located, which means that Edge made the trip to get the medical discharge to return to the ring.
Dave Meltzer said in early October that Edge spoke privately with WWE to return to the ring, although he was not sure if he could obtain authorization to fight because the company’s medical team would not be very convinced. Edge retired in 2011 due to medical tests that indicated he could end up in a wheelchair if he continued to fight due to a broken neck. Since then, Edge has continued to link with the company with podcast projects and related to WWE Network.
