World Wrestling Network (WWN) Live confirmed in a press release that WRESTLExpo, their suite of special events for the WrestleMania 36 weekend, has been indefinitely postponed. The company has made this decision following WWE’s announcement to move WrestleMania to the Performance Center behind closed doors.
WRESTLExpo, formerly known as WWN Live Experience, is a series of shows that WWN Live performs with other allied companies, featuring talents from EVOLVE, WWE (from NXT and NXT UK) and European companies PROGRESS and wXw. Precisely the German wXw had already confirmed its cancellation after the US government’s ban on receiving European visitors for 30 days due to the COVID-19 coronavirus (the ban did not include the United Kingdom, so PROGRESS continued to make announcements).
WWN Live commented in the statement that this decision has had to be taken as a measure against the advance and spread of COVID-19. In it, they detail that this movement will cost them thousands of dollars in expenses and reservations they had made for the shows, between venues, hotels, hiring personnel, etc. At the moment they are trying to recover it, claiming to the insurers the impossibility of holding the events after the recommendations of the health and government authorities. Soon they will begin with the returns of the tickets.
WRESTLExpo included events like EVOLVE 149 and 150, the new Accelerate tournament, SHIMMER 120, PROGRESS: Tampa, Kaiju Big Battel, wXw Carat Gold Revenge, and WWN Supershow: Mercury Rising. As for the EVOLVE 147 and 148 events, which were due to take place last week, they have been postponed to May 8 and 9, as have the EVOLVE entrance exams and seminars. Additionally, EVOLVE is starting to offer free content while confinement measures are being followed, such as its EVOLVE 146 shows and past encounters.
