Mayor League Wrestling (MLW) would have contacted WWE attorneys for an attempt to alter their talent contracts. According to a report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Vince McMahon’s company would be trying to take the promoter’s wrestlers.
While it was initially believed that the discomfort was specifically due to the appearance of Davey Boy Smith Jr. in the special Valentine episode of The Bump, which was broadcast last Wednesday on the WWE YouTube channel, the report notes This situation is happening with multiple MLW talents and they have enough evidence to prove it.
Since MLW began signing contracts with its wrestlers in 2018, they were banned from working with WWE but it gave them the option of making dates with other independent promoters if they wanted to. With the arrival of AEW in 2019, wrestlers like MJF and Jimmy Havoc took the opportunity to work for both companies. That made the promoter become stricter with the exclusivity of their contracts.
So far, both companies would be trying to solve the problem between lawyers and in case WWE continues with its actions, MLW will go directly to the courts.
