New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced through a press release the cancellation of 11 of its shows that were to be held in March as a preventive measure against the spread of COVID-19, better known as coronavirus.
As a result, it was announced that the New Japan Cup winch will not be held, as well as the annulment of the anniversary show and its corresponding tour has been confirmed.
“In light of the recommendations made on February 26 by the Japanese Ministry of Health due to the new Coronavirus COVID-19, New Japan Pro-Wrestling came to the decision to cancel all live events scheduled between Sunday, March 1 at Sunday, March 15. More announcements will be made at a later date. All tickets will be refunded, “New Japan Pro-Wrestling wrote in the statement.
“NJPW has made this difficult decision after careful consideration. Ultimately, the health and safety of our fans, staff, and wrestlers is our main concern. We remain deeply grateful for your support of New Japan Pro-Wrestling.”

Japanese companies affected by the coronavirus
New Japan Pro-Wrestling has not been the only one to announce the cancellation of its shows in recent days. DDT has also done it, although it will hold some shows behind closed doors. STARDOM also announced that the shows from February 29 to March 14 will not take place.
