New Japan Pro Wrestling announced the calendar for 2020

New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) has held today its second day of Wrestle Kingdom 14, the most important event of the year for the Japanese company. As is traditional, the company has reported on the important dates of 2020 by revealing its calendar for the coming months.

As reported months ago, NJPW’s next big stop will be the visit to Osaka-Jo Hall during The New Beginning tour next Sunday, February 9. After highlighting that they will return once again to the Ota City General Gymnasium for the celebration of its 48th Anniversary. Ryogoku Kokugikan will once again host an edition of Sakura Genesis on March 21, among other news.

However, the most important announcement has been the G1 Climax 30 calendar. The competition is celebrating its thirtieth edition and on this occasion, the company will not be able to hold large events in summer in Tokyo to not coincide with the celebration of the 2020 Olympic Games.

Therefore, NJPW has decided to move the tournament to autumn, having the finals on October 16, 17 and 18 from Ryogoku Kokugikan. This will be the first time in the last two years that NJPW will not hold the last days of its most important tournament at the Nippon Budoukan.

The company has not given more information about the realization of major events during the months of July and August after the absence of the G1 Climax. In the beginning, NJPW has become accustomed to performing King of Pro Wrestling (one of its most relevant shows in the year at the Ryogoku) coinciding with the “Sports Day” holiday (Taiiku no Hi). This year the Olympic Games has moved to the opening day, on July 24, so there is a possibility that New Japan will plant something for that occasion.

Below is the NJPW calendar for 2020 announced so far:
