BOGOTA, New Jersey – This Thursday, authorities found a body in the Hackensack River, which apparently belongs to a Dominican man from Bogotá who disappeared last week.
The police confirmed to Noticias Univision 41 that the lifeless body corresponds to Félix Martinez, also known as “Enrriquez”, 48, who disappeared on August 18 after leaving his brother’s house in the city of Bogota, New Jersey.
According to his brother, Felix suffered from severe depression and needed medical attention.
“He was taking some medications that may be strong that he brought from the Dominican Republic I do not know if combined with those prescribed for depression or for anxiety here caused a side effect and suddenly that morning he came out and was disturbed,” said his brother.
The last word from Felix is that he may have gone to the Hackensack bus terminal, as he was seen in that area by surveillance cameras.
Enriquez was the father of three daughters, ages 18, 21, and 22, who resides in New York City with their mother. The man lived for three years in the Dominican Republic and had only returned a month ago.
Teams from Hackensack and Ridgefield Park searched the river for hours last week after Felix was reported missing, but found nothing.
The search was carried out by firefighters from Hackensack, rescue teams from Bogotá and Ridgefield Park, a diving team from Oradell and the Bogotá police, and an ambulance from the municipality.
