Chicago, Illinois – A Chicago man was arrested after he allegedly requested an intimate date from an undercover officer posing as a teenager on a dating app.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office affirms that it is Matthew Baldwin, 51, who on September 10 would have started a conversation with an investigator from the Police Special Victims Unit.

The conversation went to another application and lasted several weeks, in which Baldwin would have been sending explicit messages describing the sexual activity he wanted to do to the minor. Police said Baldwin suggested they meet and agreed not to say anything to the mother.

Baldwin was arrested on October 14 when he arrived for the appointment. Authorities said he admitted the facts.

The defendant was charged with attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a minor, one more for traveling to meet a minor, and another for sexual abuse. A judge awarded him a $ 150,000 bond and he will have to use electronic monitoring.
