Chicago, Illinois – Tonight ended the desperate search for a baby that was taken away during car theft in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
Police initially reported that they found the driver’s SUV, but without any trace of the seven-month-old.
The authorities released the photograph of the minor and deployed a major operation that, finally, resulted in the discovery of the baby, safe and sound.
According to authorities, the incident began in the 2700 block of West 71st Street at approximately 12:46 pm A 30-year-old victim got out of her vehicle and entered a convenience store. The victim returned to the parking lot to discover that her vehicle was seized by an unknown criminal who fled north on California Avenue.
The vehicle had been left running and a 7-month-old baby was also in the unit when the theft occurred.
Authorities immediately began searching for the stolen vehicle, a gray SUV, which was recovered in the 1400 block of South Keeler Avenue at approximately 2:40 p.m.
The lengthy raid ultimately allowed the baby to be safely located, with no further details released, while Area One detectives are still investigating.
