We all hope to return to our social and economic life safely, to be able to visit family and friends and return to work. A COVID-19 vaccine is of utmost importance to end the pandemic, save lives, and our livelihoods. In this sense, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovation (CEPI) is playing a crucial role in financing and accelerating the development of potential vaccines to combat COVID-19 worldwide.
For this reason, Nestlé has announced a donation of 1 million Swiss francs to support the efforts of CEPI, which is working quickly and collaboratively to develop a vaccine against COVID-19 in the next 12-18 months, which is safe, effective and accessible to everyone.
Although the Coalition has so far raised more than $ 1 billion from governments, private donations, and individuals around the world, it still requires more funds to raise the $ 2 billion needed to move ahead with the programs of COVID-19.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of pain and difficulties in communities around the world. A safe and effective vaccine will be needed to be able to return to normality. For this reason, we decided to join the CEPI initiative, trusting that others also come together and support this important mission, “ said Mark Schneider, CEO of Nestle.
CEPI is an innovative global coalition of public, private, philanthropic, and civil society organizations created in Davos in 2017 to develop vaccines to stop future epidemics.
