How can it be that our diet is influenced by the blood group?

That’s is quite easy. The nutritionist Dr. With his research on blood group diet, Peter D’Adamo has proven that certain lectins (proteins that are contained in food) are more or less well absorbed by the human organism, depending on the blood group type.

For example, people with blood group 0 digest red meat well, while blood group A tolerates it poorly. After years of researching his patients and evaluating medical findings, D’Adamo had the brilliant idea of ​​creating four diets that correspond to the four blood types so that everyone knows which diet suits them best. This is how the blood group diet came about.

Is the risk of weight gain higher for some blood types than for others?
No. But it is true that industrial food currently contains a lot of wheat and dairy products. Therefore, losing weight can be more difficult for people with blood type 0 than for other blood types. Apart from this exception, which, as I said, is solely due to our modern diet and convenience foods, the difficulties in losing weight do not depend on the blood type.

Now very directly: is this diet suitable for losing weight?
The blood group diet is not a “weight loss diet” in the real sense. Rather, it is a way of life and a form of nutrition that should not be adhered to temporarily but permanently. And logically, you automatically reach your ideal weight and feel better in shape if you eat foods that are tailored to your body’s needs. Several of my patients have achieved a phenomenal result in a very short time and the long term.
