Coronavirus News: Can I use public toilets?

Public toilets per se do not have the best reputation for hygiene. But they could play a much bigger role in the spread of the coronavirus than expected.

Do public toilets have anything to do with the spread of coronavirus?

In terms of bacteria, germs, and viruses, they are not the cleanest places, that should be clear to everyone. But public toilets have another major disadvantage, which Chinese researchers have now discovered in a new study. The results were published in the journal “Physics of fluids” released. The scientists examined how small particles can be distributed in the air by flushing the toilet. The result is one considerable invisible distribution of the viruses in the air that can be inhaled.

Public toilets are safer with this trick

If you have to, you have to – so it is sometimes necessary to go to a public toilet. To minimize the risk of infection as far as possible, you should close the toilet lid before rinsing. This would prevent the so-called aerosol cloud from spreading. And of course very important: don’t forget to wash your hands!
