Johns Creek, Georgia – The school community is mourning the unexpected loss of one of its students this week, a spokesman for Johns Creek High School confirmed.
According to Johns Creek police, her body was found on Valentine’s Day. According to a police report, the officer who responded to the call spoke to someone who had not been told and told him that “she was with a friend last night and found her unconscious this morning.
“We offer our condolences to the family, which has indicated they would like to respect the privacy of the student,” the Fulton County Schools said.
Jackson was a high school basketball cheerleader and was in the eleventh grade. According to a letter sent to parents and students at Johns Creek High, the school is prepared to support students who may be affected by this unexpected death.
“We must be prepared to support each other and our students,” the letter noted. “When events like this happen, young people react in different ways.”
Johns Creek High School officials said guardians may notice their children react with a variety of emotions such as sadness, disgust, anger or shock.
“For some students, a death of someone they know may remind them of some other loss in their lives. For others, this may be their first encounter with death,” the statement stated.
