Miami Beach authorities reported that a 31-year-old man was attacked by a shark on Wednesday afternoon, in the area of 5th Street and 5th Avenue.
The bather would have been bitten by a blacktip shark, which caused a wound of more than 8 inches in the leg, below the knee.
Photos and videos on social networks show the moment when the bather is helped by other people who were on the beach at that time.
According to authorities, rescuers managed to control the bleeding in the leg and transferred the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he is in stable condition.
The police indicated that throughout the day they had a double red flag in the lifeguard towers in the area, as it appeared that there were several schools of baitfish in the area.
