The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating a shooting late Tuesday afternoon in the southwestern county in which an officer was shot and wounded.
The shooting occurred in the area of Southwest 67th Avenue and 20th Street.
Miami-Dade police said the injured officer was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, with an ear injury.
The officer reportedly left the hospital on Tuesday night.
“He was doing an investigation when the suspects shot him, thank God that the other officers who were at the scene were able to bring him to the hospital quickly and that the doctors did a good job treating him,” said Freddy Ramirez, Miami Police Director -Dade.
Apparently, the suspects who shot the officers were in an apartment barricaded for hours, but they have all been captured by the police.
One of the suspects was reportedly wounded by a gunshot and was also transported to the hospital, in stable condition.
The events were reported to have occurred during an operation by the Miami-Dade police narcotics bureau and the DEA, in an apartment located in a building in the area.
Detective Álvaro Zabaleta, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade police, said that when officers approached the door, the suspects greeted them with gunshots.
