After reporting the number of coronavirus cases and deaths related to COVID-19 in the state every day for about 7 months, the Florida Department of Health did not release its report this Saturday.
“Last night we received from Helix Laboratories (a private laboratory that is not affiliated with the state of Florida) approximately 400,000 previously reported COVID-19 test results, ” the Department of Health stated in a press release.
The agency added that a large amount of data received did not allow them to carry out the report automatically, as they do every day. They promised that on Sunday they will continue to publish the statistics.
The report, in addition to the number of cases and deaths, shows another series of statistics, such as hospitalizations and the positivity rate, which are also used by the authorities to define prevention or flexibility measures with respect to COVID-19.
The statement was released on Saturday around 5:00 pm and prior to this, the Health Department had not explained why the data was not published.
According to Friday’s report, there are a total of 728,921 coronavirus cases in Florida and a total of 15,186 people have died since the start of the pandemic.
The state is in phase 3 of reopening and all businesses are already operating, mostly at full capacity.
