Death toll in Surfside condo collapse climbs to 78 as more bodies found

Miami, Florida – News 23 was able to establish that emergency crews recovered 14 more bodies from the rubble of the building collapse in Surfside during Thursday night and early Friday morning.

The number of confirmed deaths thus reaches 78. The relatives of 47 of the identified persons have already been notified.

A total of 62 people are still missing.

Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava reported that each body found is treated with great respect and according to their faith.

And that they are collecting and cataloging the personal items they find at the scene of the tragedy to deliver them to the families.
