This Saturday and Sunday, Washington Avenue in Miami Beach once again became a site of persecution that terrified tourists and locals alike. Police managed to arrest suspects driving two stolen cars in two different incidents over the weekend.

The driver led the police on Sunday’s Miami Beach chase involving several suspects and resulted in one arrest. The driver of a vehicle did not respect the stop sign at a police checkpoint between South Pointe and Alton Road.

The vehicle continued on and was spotted by police on 11th Street and Jefferson Avenue where it nearly hit another car officer.  After a chase and several collisions with other cars, the subject stopped on Washington Avenue, 6th Street, where he was arrested and the other three passengers detained.

Also this Saturday, another incident took place in Miami Beach as officers searched for a stolen vehicle on Michigan Avenue and 10th Street. After finding and trying to stop the suspect, he got out of the car and ran away. The man was later found on Washington Avenue and identified as 40-year-old Anthony Saavedra.

No police were injured and the arrested suspect taken into custody. He was accused of theft, reckless driving and running away from the authorities.
