Netflix and Mattel Television have announced that they are working on a new animated series of the popular He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
If you are old enough to remember what life was like without mobile phones or the Internet, surely you’ve ever raised an arm while exclaiming “By the power of Grayskull! I have the power!”. If you recognize yourself in this gesture, then the news that Netflix is going to launch a new He-Man animation series will have pleasantly surprised you.
For those who are not combing gray hairs yet, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is a cartoon series that was created in the mid-1980s based on the line of Mattel action figures called Masters of the Universe.
The show takes us to the magical planet of Eternia, in which Prince Adam lives, a young man who transforms into the superhero He-Man raising the Sword of Power and pronouncing the words we said at the beginning. Together with his allies, Tiger Cringer, Orko, Sorceress and Man-At-Arms, He-Man was fighting the evil Skeletor. The series consists of 130 episodes that were aired in the United States between 1983 and 1985.
At the end of last summer, Netflix and Mattel Television announced that filmmaker Kevin Smith was embarking on a project to create a new He-Man 2D animation series that will continue the plot where he stayed in 1985, whose title will be He-man and Masters of the Universe.
Netflix explains that the new show will be a complementary project to that of Kevin Smith, and in this case, the animation will be done through CGI. The plot, according to the platform, “will reinvent the classic story with completely new stories and a new version of the iconic characters. ”
Therefore, we will see He-Man and Skeletor again, who will form new teams of allies to fight for interplanetary destiny.
At the moment we do not know when the new He-Man series will be released, but considering that in the autumn of 2020 the new versions of the Masters of Universe toys will be available in stores, it is not surprising that the show sees the light then.
