The Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott has given the order to close all state parks and historic sites as part of efforts to reinforce restrictions on social distancing and prevent large groups of people from gathering.
The order takes effect Tuesday at 5 pm and will reopen when directed by the governor.
The measure was announced days before Easter Sunday when some families go to parks to celebrate the occasion.
“The temporary closure of our parks and historic sites will help us prevent groups of people from gathering. He stressed to them that they continue to respect the order to stay at home and that they only leave for essential services while we respond to the pandemic, ” the president explained.
