The figures of Coronavirus-infected staff in California prisons has risen to 55, adding two nurses who work in the mental health center, California Health Care Facility, according to data from the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Due to the confirmation of the cases, a large part of the prison, which houses prisoners with mental health problems, has been placed under quarantine. No cases of infected inmates have been confirmed in prison. Nevertheless, the number of infected prisoners across the state is 17 in total.
Eight of them are in the California State Prison-Los Angeles County, seven in the California Men’s Institution in Chino, one in the North Kern State Prison in Delano and another in the Treatment Plant Substance abuse from Corcoran.
Previously the Los Angeles County Sheriff, Alex Villanueva, had given details of a department plan to free as many inmates as possible to lower the risk of infection.
