The Bakersfield Police Department announced the arrest of a woman who they accuse of having killed another woman inside a home. The events took place in an apartment located in a retirement community in Bakersfield.
Police revealed that officers from that department responded to a call Sunday at 9:00 am at the Pinewood Glen Retirement Community located at 2221 S. Real Road. Once in the building, the officers found a woman with very serious injuries lying on the floor of one of the rooms.
Investigators found another woman, who voluntarily admitted to having participated in the assault on the victim, and who was still in possession of the alleged murder weapon.
Bakersfield police identified the suspect as Sandra Bonertz, 76, who shared the property where the events occurred with her alleged victim.
The victim, who succumbed to her serious injuries at a hospital to which she was transferred, will later be identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
According to the police report, detectives in the case suspect that Bonertz attacked his victim on Saturday night, but did not share theories about the motive for the crime.
Bonertz, who according to the police report is being “very cooperative” with the investigation, was booked into the Kern County Jail on a murder charge and will appear in court Tuesday to face the charges against her.
