LOS ANGELES, California – The Los Angeles Police Department released video captured by the body camera of the attacked police officer inside the San Pedro Port Division station on September 26.
In the video revealed this Wednesday, it is possible to see how the suspect apparently took the gun from the policeman who, apparently, was injured because later he appears bleeding. At the beginning of the video, they are silent but shortly after the police manage to turn on his microphone and ask for help. At that moment the attacked policeman says “he took my gun. ” A police officer comes down from a second floor to help him and at that moment shots are heard.
The Police report described that “at approximately 10:00 pm, on Saturday, September 26, a suspect entered the LAPD station, located at 2175 John Street, on Gibson Boulevard, in San Pedro at the south of Los Angeles, the officer on duty greets him and is attacked within seconds.
The video of security cameras inside the station shows that the officer met with the suspect in the lobby of the building, immediately afterward a struggle broke out between the two men and it was observed how the suspect seized the weapon of the uniformed man and tried to shoot him several Sometimes, however, the weapon was secured so that the first bullets did not detonate, the following shots did not hit the officer, but did cause slight injuries.
Moments later, another uniformed man at the station notices the attack and comes to the defense of his partner, chasing the suspect who managed to leave the station. He was arrested minutes later.
The attacker was identified as José Guzmán, of Los Angeles, 29 years old. So far the motive for the attack is unknown. Guzmán was detained on a $ 2.2 million bond and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
