We are increasingly moving towards the future. You know very well, especially in Poland, which has launched a project that, in addition to beautiful, is useful and very sustainable. In the city of Lizbark Warminski, the TPA Technical Research Institute has created a bike path that is illuminated at night and recharged during the day thanks to solar energy.
Yes, you read it right. The floor itself is illuminated when night falls thanks to some LED stones located on the surface of it. These are charged thanks to sunlight and, when night falls, they release energy. They are active for up to 10 hours without interruption.
Poland’s excellent initiative: sustainable bike rides
One of the means of transport that best takes with the environment is the bicycle. Therefore, many cities are already implementing it, as usual, facilitating the paths for it. Thanks to this new cycle path that shines in the dark, Poland encourages its inhabitants to use it to move.
In addition, the Technical Research Institute also included exclusive silk for pedestrians. In this way, cyclists and pedestrians may be more visible when night comes, especially on those roads that are very close to the routes destined for cars.
For the future, we hope that more bike paths will be built like these in other locations in Poland. The objective is to increase the use of more eco-friendly transport, as well as reduce CO2 emissions.
But this is not the first country that innovates with this system. Nuenen, in the Netherlands, was the first city that made use of a solar bike path that lights at night. In addition, it is inspired by “Starry Night”, one of the most famous paintings of the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh.
